The author of "My Shadow" is trying to teach you about how shadow's form. When he says that "when I go outside my shadow stays sleeping in my bed" he is trying to teach you that the sun has to be out for a shadow to form. He is also saying that if the sun is on one side of you the shadow will be on the other. He is also saying that if the sun is above you that it won't form at all. That's what I think the author is trying to say!
